BOX LOUVER CURTAIN WALL

DESIGN CURTAIN WALL FACADE SYSTEM  |  OCT - NOV  2019

Curtain wall is a building envelope that is intended to support only its own weight and withstand the effects of environmental forces such as wind. It is not intended to assist the structural integrity of the building.

This project aims to comprehend various curtain wall system (such as "stick" or "unitised"), types of connections and methods of construction.

 SCHEMATIC SKETCH INTEND

Shadows for example play an important role to our observation with time. They can be soft or strong depending on the intensity, they can present sharp or diffused borders. Good repetition shadows are pleasant to the naked eyes as one move within a space with different orientation, but bad shadows can destroy the work ambience.

UNITISED SYSTEM

Unitised curtain wall is composed of large units of modules that are assembled in the factory, shipped to the site and erected on the building. Aluminium profiles are used to form the frame, which is normally one-storey high, otherwise a substructure member will be introduced. Opening vents, glazing and infill panels are built into units before being transported to site.
